This week’s lecture was again taken by Daniel and we covered text this week. The lecture started with us covering some basic points to do with text, such as where and why it is used. Some uses that were mentioned were for web page content and links. The lecture then went on to what we have to consider when designing in consideration to text. Things discussed during this part of the lecture were the purpose of the text, the audience that will be reading the text and how it will be presented. The end of the lecture we discussed character codes and how text can also represent an image.

This week’s tutorial was a continuation of last week using Dreamweaver. At the start of this tutorial we were required to re-map the drive we had mapped last week’s as the computer had not saved it for us. We were initially given a link to a website that showed us different examples of some cascading style sheets, on this website we could also retrieve the code for these different types of CSS. The tutorial then went on to us having to write div tags to allow the website to be split into columns/rows allowing better functionality of the site.
Reflection
This week’s lecture was really boring and I felt that most of the information we covered was fairly obvious. I do like that the lectures are all aimed towards the creation of our website for the next piece of coursework but I would prefer to be covering something more difficult. The tutorial was really good, the website that we were given was really helpful and will come in handy in the future. I enjoy writing CSS and getting used to it because when I used to use Dreamweaver and never used CSS in any designs, so I can see it making it a lot easier to carry through designs from page to page.
