Text

Lecture
This week's lecture was taken by Daniel Cunliffe again, we were looking into text in further details this week. We started by discussing the different weights we can use in the design of text, examples of these are:
-Light
-Regular
-Bold
-Extra Bold
Following this we went on to width of characters, condensed, normal and expanded are the 3 different types that can be used, following this we went on to styles of characters such as Roman and Italic. We then went on to families of fonts and how these styles can be applied to fonts to create other styles.

Tutorial
This week's tutorial we were working with active server pages and using databases online. To start the tutorial we were required to remap our drives again to allow us to host the active server page we had been given. The file we were give was initially a .txt so we had to rename it to allow us to use it as an active server page. Once we had been able to view the initial page we were set the task of going into the database and adding a record. Following this we were asked to add another field to the database to show the price of the pets, to do this we were required to edit information in the active server page file.

Reflection
I found this week's lecture really boring and I am quite shocked that we are covering such simple topics at this level of the course, I was really hoping to be covering harder and more interesting topics. I am looking forward to moving on and getting our coursework set and moving on to more interesting multimedia topics. This week's tutorial was really good, working with active server pages was something I had never done before and i was interested to see how to link a database to a website, and applying CSS styles to an active server page was new to me, so this tutorial was really helpful and interesting.

Don't forget, not everyone comes on this course with your level of expertise, others are finding these lectures and tutorials very challenging.
